1928

First laws on the possession of cannabis introduced in Britain

 

1967

Recommendations were made to reduce the penalties for the possession of cannabis

 

1971

A restriction is placed on the cultivation of all species cannabis plant.

 

2001

New laws permits cannabis cultivation under special licence issued by the Home Office and the smoking of cannabis for research purposes.

 

2015

The misuse of drugs act paves the way for the first medical marijuana

 

2019

New rules and regulations are drafted on an ongoing review basis with a scheduled implementation date of March 2021
